Faraday Okoro, a New York city based Nigerian-American filmmaker, was awarded a $1 million grant from AT&T after a keenly contested competition among five finalists to produce a movie titled “Nigerian Prince”.
Nigerian Prince is an internet scam thriller, set in Lagos, Nigeria. The film uncovers the hidden world of Nigerian email scammers – which most people refer to as Nigerian Prince scam.
Although most of the internet scam messages often claim to originate in Nigeria, but usually this is not true. According to Wikipedia, Internet scam originate primarily in the United States, the United Kingdom and Nigeria, with Ivory Coast, Togo, South Africa, Benin, the Netherlands, and Spain also having high incidences of such fraud
The movie will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival next year and will also run across several AT&T platforms including DIRECTV Now. Congratulations to Faraday Okoro and his team.
